Day by day we watch creative work dissolve into algorithmic content. What starts as inspiration gets reduced to whatever drives engagement. When the algorithm stands in our way, what choice is there?
We believe in a different future. Today we’re introducing a new tool to help get us there.
Release lists are a new way artists and creators on Metalabel can automatically distribute their work to their audiences without needing to post on social.
When someone collects your work or follows you on Metalabel, they join your release list. Each new release arrives in their inbox in a deliberately formal design, almost like a museum placard: title, label, artists, release date, and short description, all automatically generated from your release.
An optional space at the top lets you add a personal introduction and other context.
We’re already seeing collectors and creators having success with release lists. Yesterday Zarina Nares sold out her latest art book within hours of it going live, with most editions going to release list subscribers. People who missed out can follow Zarina from her label page (also a new feature) to join the list for her next release.
An especially important and very Metalabel part of how we've built this: your release list is exportable and portable. Your relationships with your collectors belong to you, not us.
If you're a collector and don't wish to get notified — no worries, you can easily unsubscribe.
Earlier this year we presented our 2025 Creator Playbook to stop posting and start releasing. Release lists add a key piece that make this a viable path for all creative people.
This feature is now live for all artists and creators on Metalabel.
